Dubai premium collapses, breaking the $10 threshold as US-Iran peace talks dampen Middle East crude oil war risk premiumOn Tuesday, the Middle Eastern benchmark crude Dubai spot price premium continued its decline, falling below ten dollars per barrel and reaching a seven-week low since early March. The supply outlook has significantly improved as hopes for US-Iran negotiations are rekindled. The United States has expressed confidence in holding peace talks in Pakistan, while a senior Iranian official also revealed that Tehran is considering joining. Although Iran had previously ruled out the possibility of a second round of talks this week, sources cited by institutions from the Pakistani side involved in the consultations indicated that momentum is building for the resumption of dialogue on Wednesday.Oman and Murban crude premiums also plunged sharply during recent pricing periods, presenting a stark contrast to the surge last month triggered by supply disruptions due to the war. Both Murban and Oman futures fell sharply in tandem. In the physical trading session, Shell, as a major seller, offloaded large volumes of cargo to Vitol, Trafigura, Total, and BP, with transaction prices densely concentrated in the ninety-three to ninety-four dollar range. The Singapore cash Dubai premium over swaps plummeted by three point three-eight dollars in a single day, now quoted at eight point three-four dollars per barrel. On the demand-side evidence, data show that India's crude oil imports in March fell by thirteen percent compared to February, the pre-war level. Citi researchers pointed out on Monday that even if the US and Iran agree this week to extend the ceasefire and the Strait of Hormuz traffic and output return to normal by the end of June, global crude oil and refined product inventories may still decrease by about nine hundred million barrels. The core driving force behind this round of premium collapse lies in speculative premiums being concentratedly unwound as diplomatic dialogue signals emerge. The trading logic has shifted from panic pricing over a physical blockade of the strait to a volume and price reassessment on potential supply recovery after a possible agreement. Going forward, closely monitoring any substantive progress in the Islamabad talks will be crucial, as this will serve as a key indicator for whether the Brent-Dubai price spread can stabilize.

Thirty-nine institutions, including Nasdaq, urge the European Union to accelerate the review of the DLT pilot regime to address competition from the United States.Foresight News reported, citing Bloomberg, that Nasdaq, Boerse Stuttgart Group, and 39 other signatories—including fintech associations from France, Spain, Italy, Hungary, and Poland—are calling on the European Commission and the European Parliament to separate the review of the “Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) pilot regime” from the EU “Market Integration and Regulatory Package” and accelerate its processing. The signatories believe that the overall negotiation process for the package may be lengthy, leaving Europe at risk of falling behind the US in DLT applications. In a letter to Financial Services Commissioner Maria Luis Albuquerque, the signatories requested the removal of asset class restrictions, an increase in the total trading volume cap to €150 billion (approximately $176.6 billion), and the elimination of time limits for licenses. The letter notes that the US last year passed the Genius Act to establish a stablecoin regulatory framework and is swiftly consolidating its lead in tokenized assets. The European Commission is currently pushing for a swift resolution of the entire regulatory package, viewing it as a key part of its Capital Markets Union initiative. Financial Services Commissioner Maria Luis Albuquerque has repeatedly called for all legislative proposals to be adopted in parallel.

GE Aerospace stated in its full-year performance guidance that its forecast is based on the assumption that a range of macroeconomic factors will maintain their current trends.Specifically, the company expects that key macroeconomic variables such as Brent crude oil prices will remain at high levels throughout the third quarter. However, entering the final quarter of this year, the company's models assume that these factors, including crude oil prices, will start to show a downward trend until the end of the year.
