Igor Runets, president of the largest Russian mining company BitRiver, believes that in 2-3 years Russia will be able to become the world leader in cryptocurrency mining.

This will be possible thanks to the previously adopted law on the mining of digital assets and restrictions on the circulation of digital assets, the entrepreneur said. According to him, it was the law on mining that allowed the introduction of transparent and understandable rules for industry participants, which everyone, including investors, will follow.

Most likely, it is next year that key projects related to the extraction of digital assets in Russia will be launched, and then companies will gain access to investments from the banking sector, the businessman suggested.

He is confident that the country's mining industry has huge opportunities for rapid growth. In addition, the head of BitRiver said that data centers for mining can also be used for the artificial intelligence (AI) sector.

In his opinion, the artificial intelligence race has already become as important as the space and nuclear races. And Russia can also take the lead in it. It remains to wait 2-3 years to see if the forecast is correct.
