Polygon Labs CEO: Plans to tokenize and auction a first edition Charizard Pokémon card issued in 1999
a holographic first edition Charizard Pokemon card from 1999 in perfect condition will be tokenized on the Ethereum scaling network Polygon and auctioned off by collectibles platform Courtyard. The card will be securely stored in Brink's vault and is estimated to be worth up to $250,000. Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron stated that this auction is not just about the Charizard card, but also showcases how blockchain is revolutionizing the collectibles world. According to a Polygon Labs token holder, they acquired the card from a well-known seller, and market data since 2020 shows that similar first edition Charizard Pokemon cards have sold for approximately $264,000 to $400,000.
