WikiLeaks founder Assange has left the UK and will eventually return to Australia

WikiLeaks stated on social media that on the morning of June 24th local time, WikiLeaks founder Assange left Belmarsh prison in London, where he had spent 1901 days. He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released in the afternoon at Stansted Airport, where he boarded a plane and left the UK.

Earlier reports had indicated that Assange had agreed to plead guilty in exchange for avoiding imprisonment in the United States. It is expected that he will return to Australia after pleading guilty, and the sentencing is scheduled to take place on Wednesday morning local time on the largest island of the Mariana Islands, Saipan, as Assange opposes going to the mainland United States and the court is close to Australia.
