Fantom Foundation Director: Decentralized applications will go through cycles of L2 and L1
Andre Cronje, director of the Fantom Foundation, stated at X that both investors and businesses prefer centralization. Decentralization doesn't make money and is too difficult to handle. We will see many decentralized applications (DApps) turn into Layer 2 networks (L2), and when they get tired of managing these networks, they will re-centralize back to Layer 1 networks (L1).
Similarly, many Layer 1 networks will also become Layer 2 because running a centralized sorter is much easier than worrying about those annoying consensus mechanisms until they need to "decentralize" again and revert back to Layer 1. Let this split continue. Although it contradicts every technical concept I've learned, I believe in this game; the unified monolithic solution is ultimately the winner.
