US Department of Labor launches review of Bureau of Labor Statistics, focusing on employment data and more
Jinse Finance reported, citing CCTV News, that the Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Labor has issued a statement announcing the launch of a review to assess the challenges faced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the collection and reporting of economic data. The Inspector General's Office pointed out in the statement that the Bureau of Labor Statistics had previously announced it would reduce data collection for two key inflation indicators in the U.S. economy, namely the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Producer Price Index (PPI). In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics recently made a significant downward revision to the estimate of new jobs added in its monthly Employment Situation Report.
