Exchange Developer: AI Agents Will Become Ethereum’s Largest Users
According to a report by Jinse Finance, Cointelegraph revealed that the Ethereum Foundation shared a "guest article" on Wednesday written by exchange development team members Kevin Leffew and Lincoln Murr. The article noted that the dormant HTTP 402 "Payment Required" status, defined about 30 years ago, when combined with Ethereum Improvement Proposal 3009, enables AI agents to transfer stablecoins without human intervention. The two developers stated in a post on X that autonomous agents could become Ethereum’s “largest users.” According to the exchange’s GitHub account, the company has already implemented the HTTP 402 standard through the “x402 payment protocol.”
