Paul Atkins officially succeeds Gary Gensler as SEC Chairman
Paul Atkins has been sworn in as Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the formal transfer of leadership from Gary Gensler has now been completed. Atkins, who has worked with digital asset companies, is expected to continue the interim leadership's reversal of the SEC's previous resistance to cryptocurrencies. Atkins stated that he is honored by the "trust and confidence" of President Trump and the U.S. Senate, and is excited to start working with the other commissioners. Atkins was approved by the Senate earlier this month as President Trump's nominee. Previously, he served as an SEC commissioner and ran a Washington consulting firm focused on compliance and policy matters. In addition to his connections on Wall Street, Atkins also serves as an advisor to cryptocurrency companies.
