A U.S. judge rules Google has illegally monopolized online advertising technology
A U.S. federal judge stated on Thursday that Google (GOOG.O) illegally monopolized two markets of online advertising technology, marking another blow against the tech giant in an antitrust case filed in the U.S. This ruling may provide prosecutors with grounds to demand the breakup of Google's advertising products. The U.S. Department of Justice suggests that Google should at least sell its ad manager products, which include the company's publisher ad server business and ad exchange platform. Google might now face orders from two different U.S. courts to sell assets or change its business practices. The U.S. Department of Justice is asking Google to sell its Chrome browser and take other measures to end its dominance in the online search field, with a trial on this demand to be held by a Washington judge next week.
