Binance has announced scheduled wallet maintenance for the BNB Smart Chain (BEP20), which is set to begin on April 17, 2025, at 06:00 UTC. As part of the process, users will face a temporary suspension of deposits and withdrawals on the BNB Smart Chain network starting at 05:55 UTC—just five minutes before the maintenance kicks off.
Despite suspending deposit and withdrawal services, Binance clarified that trading BNB Smart Chain-based tokens will not be affected. This means users can continue to buy and sell tokens during the maintenance window, which is expected to last approximately one hour.
Moreover, the exchange reassured users that all technical requirements related to the maintenance would be handled internally, with no action needed from users. Deposits and withdrawals will automatically resume once the network is confirmed to be stable, although Binance noted that it will not issue an additional update when services are restored.
To avoid any confusion, Binance advised users to rely on the original English version of the announcement for the most accurate and up-to-date information, as translated versions may contain discrepancies.
For context, BEP-20 is the standard for tokens deployed on the BNB Smart Chain, formerly known as Binance Smart Chain. Designed for compatibility with Ethereum’s ERC-20 tokens, the BEP-20 standard underpins all smart contracts on the network. Since its launch in September 2020, it has supported various crypto assets and decentralized applications.
According to data from DeFi Llama , the BNB Smart Chain currently has a total value locked (TVL) of $5.14 billion and over 1.25 million active on-chain addresses. In a related update, Binance plans to temporarily suspend deposits and withdrawals for Filecoin (FIL) on April 14 at 22:00 UTC. This facilitates a network upgrade expected at block height 4,878,840, projected to reach around 23:00 UTC the same day.
