Data: Nearly half of South Korea's "crypto whales" are investors aged 50 and above
Seung Yoon Lee, CEO of Story Protocol, stated that in South Korea, cryptocurrency is one of the few things that can bring together both the elderly and young people. According to statistics from The East Asia Daily in South Korea, there has been a significant change in the age structure of cryptocurrency investors.
The data shows that the number of investors aged 50 increased by 56.4% year-on-year to reach 1.75 million; the number of investors aged 60 and above grew from 371,800 to 636,700 - an increase of 52.6%. Notably among those holding more than one billion Korean won (approximately "whale" investors) in cryptocurrency assets, nearly half are over the age of fifty.
