Elon Musk has revealed that X is facing a massive and highly coordinated cyberattack that is larger and more sophisticated than the daily attacks they face, potentially involving a nation-state or a well-funded hacking group.

Musk’s statement came after thousands of X users reported experiencing widespread outages, login failures, and unusual platform disruptions this morning. The first reports emerged around 5:30 a.m. ET.
According to Downdetector, a site that tracks user complaints about online services, there were over 40,000 outage reports at the peak of the disruptions. The issues persisted throughout the morning, with additional outages reported at approximately 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. ET.
X has occasionally faced outages, including a disruption during the Trump livestream interview last August. The interview, hosted by Musk, was plagued by major technical difficulties before it began.
It was later identified that the platform suffered a massive DDoS attack, leading to widespread disruptions and preventing many users from accessing the live conversation.
