Japanese investment firm Metaplanet continues its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy by purchasing an additional 497 BTC for $43.9 million as it moves towards its long-term BTC holdings goal.
Metaplanet Accelerates Bitcoin Purchases, Adds $43.9 Million Worth of BTC
The Tokyo-listed firm announced today that it purchased 497 BTC at an average price of $88,448 per Bitcoin, bringing its total holdings to 2,888 BTC.
The firm’s total Bitcoin investment is currently $240.2 million, with an average purchase price of $83,172 per BTC. At current market prices, these holdings are worth $251 million, providing the company with unrealized paper profits.
Aggressive Bitcoin Accumulation Strategy
- The latest purchase follows Monday’s purchase of 156 BTC worth $13.4 million.
- Metaplanet has been aggressively accumulating Bitcoin as part of its long-term treasury strategy since April 2024.
- In December 2024, the firm officially designated Bitcoin treasury operations as a core business line.
- The company has set ambitious goals to own 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026.
