Paradigm enlists ZachXBT as advisor for cybersecurity

Paradigm, a cryptocurrency investment firm, has appointed on-chain cybersecurity analyst ZachXBT as an advisor.  

The announcement was made by Matt Huang, Paradigm's co-founder and managing partner, on February 26, 2025.  

ZachXBT will serve as an "incident response advisor," working with Paradigm's portfolio companies to handle crypto-related security incidents.  

Known for his investigations into Web3 exploits, ZachXBT has built a strong following of over 800,000 on X.  

Huang praised ZachXBT's work, stating that he is a "legend, using onchain forensics to keep bad actors accountable."  

He added that ZachXBT has helped recover over $350 million for victims of hacks and scams.  

"Nothing about his focus will change; we just want to support his ability to keep up the good work," Huang said.  

ZachXBT emphasised that this role allows him to continue helping the community and publishing investigations.  

"It was an easy decision as this gives me the freedom to continue helping the community and publishing investigations like. I’ve always respected how Paradigm has given back to the space by funding initiatives such as Security Alliance, publishing open source research, and helping defend the right to privacy," he stated.  

Paradigm's hire comes after the Bybit exchange experienced a $1.4 billion cybersecurity exploit.  

ZachXBT will assist Paradigm's portfolio companies in protecting against attacks.  

ZachXBT also linked the Lazarus Group to the Bybit hack, as well as to recent Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) memecoin scams and the $29 million Phemex hack in January.  

Paradigm invests between $1 million and $100 million in Web3 startups.  

Their portfolio includes investments in Coinbase, Uniswap (CRYPTO:UNI), and Optimism (CRYPTO:OP).
