MetaMask streamlines crypto exits with 10 new blockchain off-ramps

MetaMask, an Ethereum-based (CRYPTO:ETH) cryptocurrency wallet, is expanding its fiat off-ramp services to support 10 additional blockchain networks through an ongoing partnership with payments provider Transak.

The move aims to simplify converting digital assets into traditional currency, a process previously encumbered by extra steps and fees.

The 10 new networks gaining support are the Arbitrum (CRYPTO:ARB) mainnet, Avalanche C-Chain mainnet, Base, BNB Chain, Celo (CRYPTO:CELO), Fantom (CRYPTO:FTM), Moonbeam (CRYPTO:GLMR), Moonriver (CRYPTO:MOVR), Optimism (CRYPTO:OP), and Polygon (CRYPTO:MATIC).

Initially, off-ramping support will be available for ETH on Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH), ETH on Optimism, BNB, and Polygon (CRYPTO:MATIC), with the remaining six networks to follow.

"By expanding off-ramping capabilities with Transak, MetaMask is removing barriers between crypto and traditional currency, allowing users to convert a broader range of tokens directly to cash," stated Lorenzo Santos, senior product manager at Consensys.

The expansion also increases the number of supported countries, growing the network to over 100.

Previously, MetaMask users had to swap assets for ETH before converting to fiat, a process that was not cost-effective or efficient.

The integration with Transak removes these conversion steps.

Sami Start, co-founder and CEO of Transak, highlighted the importance of intuitive fiat off-ramping for MetaMask's user base, noting that it is a crucial step in providing users with a seamless way to move between Web2 and Web3.
