Onchain sleuth ZachXBT joins crypto VC firm Paradigm as incident response advisor

ZachXBT, the pseudonymous investigator of alleged crypto frauds, has joined the research-driven crypto investment firm Paradigm as an incident response advisor to assist Paradigm's portfolio companies.

"@zachxbt is a legend, using onchain forensics to keep bad actors accountable," Paradigm cofounder Matt Huang said Wednesday in a post on X . "He has returned over $350M to victims of hacks and scams. This is increasingly important as the industry grows."

ZachXBT's focus will not change and "we just want to support his ability to keep up the good work," Huang said.

"It was an easy decision as this gives me the freedom to continue helping the community and publishing investigations like," ZachXBT said in a post on X . "I’ve always respected how Paradigm has given back to the space by funding intiatives such as Security Alliance, publishing open source research, and helping defend the right to privacy."

The sleuth has built a strong following on X with over 800,00 followers, as well as a Telegram channel with 70,000 subscribers. Most recently, he submitted definitive proof that the Lazarus Group performed the $1.5 billion attack on ByBit.

In recent weeks, Paradigm Capital led a $25 million Series A funding round for D3 Global, a web3 domain infrastructure firm, and co-led a $24 million Series A for ZKP infrastructure startup Irreducible.

Last month, Paradigm also called for accelerating the pace of development on Ethereum and even committed $1.25 million to aid Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm's legal defense.

The pseudonymous white hat crypto hacker "samczsun" previously joined Paradigm Fund in 2020 as a research partner.
