Ethereum Foundation looks to hire 'social media manager' in latest bid to win back community approval
Quick Take Ethereum users have expressed frustration that the non-profit organization has grown out of touch with its user base. The Ethereum Foundation has taken steps to engage more directly with the ecosystem, in response.

In its latest response to community criticism that the Ethereum Foundation has grown to become out-of-touch with the Ethereum user base, the EF is looking to hire a social media manager, according to a Thursday post on X by Ethereum Foundation long-timer Josh Stark.
The move has been met with a degree of optimism from community mainstays.
"Please find someone who goes hard bro, you know what I mean," crypto legal expert Gabriel Shapiro posted in response .
Anxieties have surfaced within the Ethereum community in recent weeks related to Solana’s rising competitive advantage, the ability for Ethereum’s “high priests” — i.e., researchers — to scale the network and co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s ability to transition into a “wartime leader,” among other concerns.
For instance, several prominent voices have called to replace sitting Ethereum Foundation Director Aya Miyaguchi with a more technical leader like Justin Drake, the former foundation researcher who spearheaded Ethereum’s shift to proof-of-stake.
In recent weeks, however, the EF has taken steps to reaffirm its position as one of the “valued voices” of Ethereum. This includes allocating 50,000 ETH from its treasury into DeFi protocols, including Aave, Compound and Spark. Buterin has also noted on social media that leadership overhauls are being discussed.
“The EF is not a company or even a traditional non-profit,” the EF wrote in its job listing. “We do not control Ethereum, nor are we the only organization that funds the critical development of Ethereum-related technologies. We are part of a large ecosystem of organizations, individuals and companies that support Ethereum. Our mission is to do what is best for Ethereum’s long-term success.”
According to the listing , the new hire would “play a leading role in shaping the future of the EF’s approach to social media.” This includes maintaining the EF’s accounts on X, Facebook and Linkedin, as well as crypto-native platforms like Farcaster and Lens, and also running the more general @ethereum brand account.
The move also represents the continuing importance of social media in onboarding crypto users and sharing news about protocol updates. Given the global nature of crypto, X and Telegram have become sites for community organization, though there have been routine complaints that the EF, in particular, is out of touch.
That said, social media is also a breeding ground for some of the crypto industry.
In addition to the social media manager listing, the EF is also looking to fill several niche technical roles and community management positions, according to Web3Career .
