Vitalik: Disappointed that the community thinks Ethereum doesn't respect on-chain "casino" applications enough
In a message from ChainCatcher, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik responded to the question "Have there been times in the past year when you've felt frustrated and disappointed with EF, the community, or the industry?" during a text AMA held on Tako platform. He said: "Of course there have been. Perhaps my most recent disappointment was when someone said that Ethereum is not good or tolerant because we don't respect 'casinos' on blockchain enough; other chains are willing to accept any application so they're better.
If the blockchain community has such an 'upside-down' moral issue, I would have no interest in participating in it. But I found something interesting: many people say these things online but when I chat with them personally, their values remain as before. So I feel responsible for this community and can't abandon them; Ethereum needs to work together to create the world we want to see.
This will require some changes - for example, foundations may need to be less neutral at application level and deliberately support certain things - but only if those projects are worth our effort."
