JPMorgan Chase, one of the leading financial institutions in the United States, has significant investments in cryptocurrencies, specifically in Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs). According to documents recently released by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the total amount of these investments reaches US$ 1.016.728.
According to the report, the allocation to Bitcoin ETFs amounts to approximately $984.000, while the investment in Ethereum ETFs is around $32.300. This investment is broken down into several funds, with $523.000 invested in the ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO) and $290.000 allocated to BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT).
Other investments include $68.000 in the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB), $55.000 in the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin (FBTC), and $37.000 in the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust ETF (GBTC). For Ethereum, investments are split between $23.800 in the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE), $6.200 in the iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA), $2.100 in the Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH), and $102 in the Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (ETHM).
These ETFs provide a way for investors to gain exposure to the two largest crypto assets on the market, Bitcoin and Ethereum, without necessarily owning them directly. The SEC’s approval of these ETFs in 2024 marked a significant shift after years of reluctance.
On the asset management side, SEC filings from May 2024 indicated that JPMorgan managed $760.000 worth of spot market BTC ETFs on behalf of its clients, representing a substantial increase of over $220.000 compared to prior periods.
