• Broccoli-themed coins triggered widespread activity across DEX platforms, with PancakeSwap recording $3 billion in trading volume over 24 hours.
  • A savvy trader capitalized on the Broccoli meme coin hype, amassing significant profits by acquiring tokens early and strategically selling them.

In an X post on Thursday, February 13, Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao revealed his dog’s name, leading to a flood of meme coins released after the Belgian Malinois canine. The “Broccoli” meme coins have stormed the crypto market once again, appearing on some of the most popular meme coin launching platforms.

For example, Solana’s Pump. Fun alone hosts 480 Broccoli-themed coins. Similarly, BNB Smart Chain’s Four.Meme features more than 300 CZ-dog-themed coins at the time of writing. One Solana-based meme coin, Broccoli, gained significant traction, reaching a market capitalization of $1.5 billion on February 13.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao stressed that he wasn’t launching a meme coin of his own and said that he would leave it to the community whether to do it or not, clearing the air on previous rumours . However, the launch of Broccoli meme coins has triggered a massive frenzy all across decentralized exchanges (DEXs).

According to DeFiLlama, decentralized exchange (DEX) PancakeSwap achieved $3 billion in trading volume over the past 24 hours. This milestone positions PancakeSwap as the leading DEX, surpassing competitors like Uniswap, Raydium, Meteora, and Orca.

Blockchain analytics platform LookonChain has reported an impressive windfall for a savvy crypto trader who capitalized on a memecoin inspired by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao’s (CZ) dog. Dubbed Broccoli, the token’s value skyrocketed after CZ revealed his dog’s name, enabling the trader to rake in $27.8 million.

The trader swiftly acquired nearly every Broccoli token shortly after the announcement, distributing the tokens across multiple wallets using the dispersing tool for strategic selling.

Binance to Capitalize on Meme Coin Mania: Will It List Broccoli?

In the recent report sharing the roadmap for 2025, BNB Chain shared its roadmap while adding that it would continue to support the meme ecosystem. “We are happy to see many of the meme tool providers integrate with BNB Chain. And we will continue to work closely with them in 2025 and beyond,” noted BNB Chain.

The meme coin sector witnessed explosive growth last year in 2024 with the launch of multiple mem coins on the Solana blockchain network.

The BNB Chain team accidentally ignited a trading frenzy after creating a test memecoin as part of a tutorial on Four.Meme. While the token’s name was largely redacted in the tutorial, a visible testing name caught traders’ attention. Speculation around the token surged rapidly, driving its market capitalization to millions of dollars within hours, despite its intended use as a test asset. The incident highlights the speculative fervor within the memecoin market.

The Binance exchange has yet to make a decision on whether or not to list Broccoli meme coins. However, CZ himself said recently that the exchange’s listing process seems a ‘bit broken’, as mentioned in our previous article.

Interest in meme coins, along with other market factors, may have contributed to the BNB token’s surge, which climbed to $724.70 earlier on February 13.
