Trump: DeepSeek does not pose a security threat, the United States can benefit from its innovation
on February 8th, various media outlets such as Newsmax have reported that US President Trump told reporters on February 7th that he believes DeepSeek will not pose a threat to national security and that the US can ultimately "benefit" from the artificial intelligence (AI) innovation of this startup company. Newsmax reported that when asked whether he thought DeepSeek posed a threat to national security, Trump responded to reporters that day by saying "no." "This is a developing technology... In fact, I think - I think we will benefit from it." He added, "The AI we're talking about will be much cheaper than people initially imagined. This is a good thing. I think this is a very good development, not a bad one."
