Bitcoin ETFs could see over $50B in 2025

Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States have recorded nearly $5 billion in net inflows during January, leading analysts to predict that total inflows could exceed $50 billion by the end of 2025.  

Matt Hougan, the chief investment officer at Bitwise, highlighted this trend in a recent post, noting that January's inflow annualises to approximately $59 billion.  

For context, Bitcoin ETFs brought in $35.2 billion throughout 2024, indicating a significant increase in interest.  

Hougan acknowledged the inherent volatility in monthly inflows but expressed confidence that Bitcoin ETFs would surpass the $50 billion mark by year-end.  

In January, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) led the way with net inflows of $3.2 billion, followed by Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), which attracted nearly $1.3 billion.  

Bitwise’s own fund, the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB), saw over $125 million in inflows during the same period.  

Hougan and Ryan Rasmussen from Bitwise previously indicated that 2025 would likely see larger inflows compared to 2024 due to increased institutional interest.  

They noted that an ETF's inaugural year typically experiences slower growth, referencing gold ETFs that saw their flows double from their first to second year.  

The potential for substantial inflows is bolstered by expectations that major financial institutions will soon engage more actively with Bitcoin ETFs, which could expose these funds to trillions of dollars in investments.
