According to Voachinese, the Italian Data Protection Authority has launched an investigation into the artificial intelligence chatbot of Chinese startup DeepSeek and stated that it has banned it from processing data of Italian users.
Italy's data protection authority said the response it received after being asked about the company's use of personal data was "totally inadequate" and it had decided to take action.
The agency stated in a statement that it has ordered "urgent and immediate restrictions on Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence and Beijing DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence from processing data of Italian users. They are Chinese companies that provide DeepSeek chatbot services." The statement said that at the same time, the authorities have launched an investigation.
