Cboe BZX resubmits Solana ETF applications for 4 fund issuers
Cboe BZX Exchange has refiled applications for spot Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on behalf of four asset managers.
This move comes after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rejected similar applications last year.
The new filings, submitted on January 28, include requests from Bitwise, VanEck, 21Shares, and Canary Capital.
These resubmissions restart the SEC’s review process under the leadership of acting chair Mark Uyeda, who has adopted a more crypto-friendly stance.
If approved, Solana could become the third cryptocurrency to have a spot ETF listed on U.S. exchanges, following Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) and Ether (CRYPTO:ETH).
Financial analysts predict that an approved spot Solana ETF could attract between $3 billion and $6 billion in net assets within its first year.
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas described this estimate as a "reasonable guess," highlighting the potential market interest.
The previous applications were withdrawn at the SEC's request, which has since revoked several crypto-related actions taken under former chair Gary Gensler.
This includes canceling a rule requiring financial firms to classify crypto holdings as liabilities on their balance sheets.
In addition to Solana, asset managers have also filed for ETFs linked to XRP (CRYPTO:XRP), Litecoin (CRYPTO:LTC), and Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE), as they test the waters for regulatory approval under the current SEC framework.
VanEck was the first to file for a Solana ETF back in June 2025, followed closely by 21Shares and Canary Capital later that year.
