Trump's executive order drives $1.9B inflows into crypto ETPs
The cryptocurrency market experienced a significant boost following U.S. President Donald Trump's recent executive order promoting digital assets, resulting in $1.9 billion inflows into crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) last week.
This surge marks the third consecutive week of inflows, bringing the total for the year to date to $4.7 billion, according to CoinShares.
Despite this positive trend, last week’s inflows represented a decline of approximately 13% compared to the previous week, which saw $2.2 billion injected into crypto ETPs.
Bitcoin-based (CRYPTO:BTC) ETPs were the primary beneficiaries, attracting $1.6 billion of the recent inflows and accounting for 92% of all crypto ETP inflows year-to-date.
The uptick in Bitcoin investment coincided with the cryptocurrency reaching a new all-time high above $109,000 on January 20.
Short Bitcoin ETPs also gained traction last week, recording inflows of $5.1 million.
Ether-based (CRYPTO:ETH) ETPs contributed positively as well, with $205 million in inflows last week, bringing their year-to-date total to $177 million.
In contrast, XRP-based (CRYPTO:XRP) ETPs saw a decrease in inflows, totaling $18.5 million, down about 40% from the previous week.
Among altcoins, Solana (CRYPTO:SOL), Chainlink (CRYPTO:LINK), and Polkadot (CRYPTO:DOT) recorded modest inflows of $6.9 million, $6.6 million, and $2.6 million respectively.
Interestingly, no digital asset investment products experienced outflows last week, indicating strong market sentiment.
BlackRock led the way among crypto ETP issuers with weekly inflows of $1.5 billion, representing 76% of all inflows during that period.
Conversely, Grayscale faced significant outflows of $124 million from its crypto ETPs since the start of 2025.
The executive order not only emphasises support for digital assets but also establishes a working group to explore a national digital asset stockpile and regulatory framework.
