Shaw: More powerful models are always beneficial to AI agents. OpenAI used to be in the lead, and now Deepseek is leading
Shaw, a co-founder of ai16z, posted on X platform stating that stronger models are always advantageous for artificial intelligence agents. For many years, artificial intelligence labs have been surpassing each other in benchmark testing and capabilities. Sometimes Google leads, sometimes OpenAI leads, sometimes Claude leads, and now it's DeepSeek. The trend is that the world's largest and most capital-rich companies are competing for a technology that ultimately tends towards being free, open source, and can run on computers at home without any cost. Both sides of this competition have always been winners: hardware and consumer products. NVIDIA is always the winner, and products continue to benefit from the latest models. AI Agent is a new application paradigm - the core argument is that applications need to be migrated to social media where users are, and agents are a form of application that can exist entirely on social media without users having to leave. Currently, the next version of Eliza is being built and it will only get better from now on. Thousands of teams are building technology, and more than 500 people have contributed to the core repository. As it continues to develop, this number will continue to grow.
