DePIN requires unified narrative for widespread adoption
Decentralised physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) must develop a unified narrative to facilitate mass adoption, according to Rushi Manche, co-founder of Movement Labs.
In an interview with Cointelegraph, Manche highlighted that the sector's diverse and technical use cases make it challenging to effectively communicate its value to the general public.
Despite these hurdles, he remains optimistic about DePIN's future, pointing to pro-crypto policies from U.S. President Donald Trump as a potential catalyst for growth.
“Tokens being issued in the United States would be a huge thing, and I think Trump was talking about it in the last few weeks,” Manche stated.
As the DePIN sector garners attention from venture capitalists in 2025, the anticipated regulatory clarity on digital assets in the U.S. could further enhance its prospects.
DePIN encompasses a wide range of applications, from telecommunications to decentralised data storage.
For instance, Helium (CRYPTO:HNT) aims to disrupt traditional communication services by expanding wireless coverage through a decentralised network.
Similarly, Functionland’s FxBlox device offers users a decentralised alternative to conventional cloud storage solutions.
Manche noted that DePIN has even been proposed as a means to decentralise law enforcement, allowing communities to take control of policing through tokenisation and community patrol decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs).
However, for DePIN to achieve its potential, it needs to overcome challenges related to early adoption and market penetration.
Currently, the sector exists primarily as a narrative among blockchain enthusiasts, lacking significant scale and network effects.
The success of DePIN projects depends on attracting more resource providers and participants to create robust networks.
