Vitalik Buterin Announces Changes in Ethereum Foundation Leadership
- Ethereum Foundation leadership restructuring underway.
- Focus on privacy, decentralization and support for dApp developers.
- Vitalik Buterin rejects centralization and aggressive political lobbying.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has revealed on social media that the Ethereum Foundation is undergoing significant changes to its leadership structure. This process, which began almost a year ago, aims to improve efficiency and communication within the Ethereum ecosystem, better serving the needs of developers and users.
We are indeed currently in the process of major changes to EF leadership structure, which has been ongoing for close to a year. Some of this has already been executed on and made public, and some is still in progress.
What we're trying to achieve is primarily the following…

The transformations aim, among other objectives, to increase the level of technical expertise in the foundation's leadership, strengthen ties between the organization's leaders and the various participants in the ecosystem, such as application developers and institutional users. In addition, there is an effort to attract new talent, accelerate project execution and expand support for decentralized application (dApp) developers.
At the time of publication, the price of Ethereum was quoted at $3.322,45 with a drop of 4.6% in the last 24 hours.
Another crucial focus is ensuring that fundamental rights such as privacy, open source code, and censorship resistance continue to be respected at the user level. The foundation also plans to expand the use of decentralized and privacy-focused technologies, further leveraging the Ethereum blockchain for payments and fund management.
However, Buterin was emphatic that the foundation does not intend to adopt centralized practices or act as a key player in the Ethereum ecosystem. He also rejected the idea of the foundation engaging in aggressive lobbying with regulators or politicians, something that could compromise the platform’s global neutrality. “Those seeking a different vision are welcome to start their own organizations,” Buterin wrote in a blog post.
Meanwhile, Buterin’s statement comes amid ongoing discussions in the Ethereum community, including criticism of the foundation’s performance and suggestions for new leadership. Joseph Lubin, another Ethereum co-founder, proposed replacements for the foundation’s current executive director, Aya Miyaguchi. He suggested names such as Danny Ryan, a former researcher at the foundation, and Jérôme de Tychey, president of Ethereum France, highlighting the need for renewed energy and innovative thinking to address the industry’s current challenges.
By gradually implementing these changes, the Ethereum Foundation aims to further align itself with the core values of blockchain, fostering a decentralized, secure, and open environment for all ecosystem participants.
