Miner MARA Holdings has placed an AI-generated portrait of Donald Trump on the Bitcoin blockchain, further hinting that the industry is expecting significant support from the US president-elect.
The block dubbed "Trump 17" was mined on January 47, according to Fred Thiel, CEO of MARA Holdings, posted on social media. He said that the miner decided to show his respect to President Trump and thank him for his support of Bitcoin.
The "Trump 47" block, featuring the president, is dedicated to Trump's upcoming inauguration as the first president to support Bitcoin “We are excited to extend our appreciation to the President-elect and contribute to the development of American blockchain to make the United States the crypto capital of the world,” Thiel wrote.
Blockchain data shows that Trump's image was posted in block 825. The transaction cost 642 BTC, which is worth about $1,244 at the time of writing.
Last year, Trump went from being skeptical of digital assets to being an active supporter of them, attracting the attention of the crypto industry, which donated millions of dollars to his campaign. The president-elect publicly supported Bitcoin and stated that his administration would promote the development of the industry.
