Trump's inauguration may be the most militarized ceremony in American history

According to a report released on Monday, the second inauguration of President-elect Trump could be the most militarized in American history.

The U.S. National Security Agency warned that despite no specific credible threats at present, Trump's inauguration would be a "potential target for violent extremists". Potential criminals, especially those "dissatisfied with the election", may see the swearing-in of the elected president as their "last chance to influence election results through violence," wrote a group of intelligence and law enforcement agencies in an undisclosed threat assessment.

According to information from US officials cited by The Daily Telegraph, nearly 7,800 soldiers will patrol Washington D.C. alongside approximately equal numbers of police officers to ensure a "peaceful transition of power". The paper also revealed plans to deploy two FBI field offices, numerous drones and at least 30 miles of fencing to protect Trump and guests attending his inauguration from potential violent threats including global leaders and senior lawmakers from across America.
