Polymarket users bet on whether Trump will say 'bitcoin' or 'dogecoin' in his inauguration speech

Users of the decentralized prediction market platform Polymarket have bet a total of $845,000 as to whether President-elect Donald Trump will mention crypto-specific keywords during his inauguration speech on Jan. 20.
Individuals placed nearly $519,000 on the bet that Trump will say "crypto" or "bitcoin," in addition to over $326,000 that he will mention "doge" or "dogecoin," in his speech. "Crypto" and "Bitcoin," both in one, have predicted 15% odds of success, while "doge" and "dogecoin," in another single bet, maintain 13% odds in favor.
The total trading volume in the prediction market forecasting what Trump will say in his inauguration speech surpassed $1.86 million as of publication.
Polymarket users betting on what Trump will say isn't new. Numerous prediction markets have emerged, particularly during the 2024 presidential election , attempting to predict what Trump will say at his campaign rallies , the second presidential debate and even a conversation with Elon Musk.
Polymarket saw $1.93 billion in trading volume in December, down 26.6% compared to the month prior, according to The Block's Data Dashboard.
Bitcoin traded at $93,500 while dogecoin was valued at $0.33 as of 4:22 p.m. ET (21:22 UTC) on Jan. 13, according to The Block's price pages for the tokens.
