By Selling Bitcoin, US Authorities Will Ignore Voters' Interests

Social network users criticize the US government's decision to sell bitcoins and believe that in doing so they will show voters the middle finger.

On January 8, the US Department of Justice was given permission to get rid of $6,5 billion worth of BTC confiscated from the darknet marketplace Silk Road. Then, from the crypto wallet in which the seized coins were stored, allegedly disappeared digital assets. However, according to the Arkham platform staff, the coins are currently are located on the government's balance sheet, so it is obvious that officials have not yet sold them.

The Justice Department's plan to get rid of digital assets has predictably caused outrage among many members of the crypto community, and the government has been accused of all mortal sins.

The Justice Department believes that they can steal bitcoins from the US reserve and ignore the priorities of the elected US president [Donald Trump] in order to fill the budget of their department. What a beastly attitude towards voters, - the director of the publication wrote Bitcoin Magazine David Bailey.

It seems to them that Bitcoin will depreciate, and they want to help it do so by pressuring the market during a downtrend. (Can you call this manipulation???) It is legal if the government does it. I wonder how many government insiders will buy bitcoins at the bottom… — wrote Caitlin Long, CEO of Custodia Bank.

Interestingly, one of the social network users, nicknamed Me, saw the situation in a positive light. He reasonably assumed that Bitcoin will fall significantly once officials dump the coins, giving traders a chance to buy BTC at a lower price before the bull rally resumes.
