Corporate Bitcoin Holdings Soar as Adoption Gains Momentum
The adoption of Bitcoin by corporations is gaining significant traction, with holdings in company treasuries more than doubling over the past year.
Data from Bitwise’s Bradley Duke highlights this trend, showing that Bitcoin’s integration into corporate strategies is rapidly expanding.
In just 12 months, corporate Bitcoin reserves have grown from 262,632 BTC in late 2023 to over 591,000 BTC by the end of 2024. Duke believes this is only the beginning, forecasting a sharp increase in adoption throughout 2025. Companies like Japan’s Metaplanet plan to expand their holdings dramatically, targeting 10,000 BTC from the current 1,762 BTC. Meanwhile, Kurltechnologg, an energy firm, has bolstered its reserves with a $21 million purchase, doubling its total to 430 BTC.
MicroStrategy remains the standout player in corporate Bitcoin investment. With its latest acquisition of 1,070 BTC for $101 million, the company now holds an astonishing 447,470 BTC, acquired at nearly $28 billion. Last year alone, it purchased 258,000 BTC, accounting for 80% of all corporate Bitcoin acquisitions. The company’s bold strategy is supported by a $2 billion capital raise, reinforcing its long-term plan to invest $42 billion in Bitcoin over the coming years.
