OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has harshly criticized the former board members who abruptly fired him in late November last year.

"I feel like those who really hurt me and the company are gone, and now I have to clean up their mess," he said in a wide-ranging interview.

Just over a year ago, OpenAI's old board fired him on the grounds that Altman was "not always honest" when communicating with board members. According to Altman, under pressure, the board quickly changed direction and at that time Altman agreed to return only after the entire board resigned.

Twitch co-founder Emmett Shear was briefly appointed as OpenAI CEO which caught Altman off guard. "I thought at that moment, 'Well, now I'm really done,' because it was real deception," he said.

The interview also revealed other interesting news about OpenAI's past and future plans such as considering charging $42 per month for ChatGPT and planning to reveal more information about its chip program this year.
