Michael Saylor teases Bitcoin purchase after recent acquisition
MicroStrategy co-founder Michael Saylor has hinted at a potential Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) purchase by sharing a Bitcoin chart from the SaylorTracker website on December 29.
Saylor’s posts, often shared on Sundays, have led to speculation among market participants about MicroStrategy's next move.
Saylor’s latest post referenced "disconcerting blue lines on SaylorTracker.com" to his 3.9 million followers on X, sparking reactions from traders.
The company’s most recent Bitcoin acquisition took place on December 22, when it purchased 5,200 BTC at an average price of $106,000 per coin.
This marked MicroStrategy's smallest acquisition since July 2024.
The firm currently holds 444,262 BTC, valued at approximately $41.4 billion, based on SaylorTracker data.
Saylor has repeatedly affirmed his commitment to buying Bitcoin at any price, leading traders to view MicroStrategy as a leveraged Bitcoin bet closely tied to the cryptocurrency's performance.
In December, MicroStrategy held a special shareholders meeting to advance its 21/21 plan, a strategy to raise $42 billion over three years.
The plan involves $21 billion in equity offerings and $21 billion in fixed-income corporate securities to fund additional Bitcoin purchases.
Saylor has also proposed a broader digital asset framework for the United States.
His vision includes establishing a Bitcoin strategic reserve that could generate $16 trillion to $81 trillion in asset wealth to offset the national debt.
The plan suggests growing the digital asset market capitalisation to $10 trillion to solidify the US dollar's position as the global reserve currency.
This growth would boost demand for US government securities, which back overcollateralised stablecoins.
At the time of reporting, the Bitcoin price was $93,123.80.
