UAE strengthens economic ties with China and India through BRICS
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has enhanced its global standing by deepening economic ties with China and India through its BRICS membership.
Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE’s economy minister, emphasized the importance of BRICS in boosting the country’s economic position.
Al Marri noted that the UAE’s inclusion in the BRICS alliance brings valuable ties with major economies such as China and India, which can drive growth.
"The UAE has always been a place where the economy has built on the strengths and ties of major economies," he said.
He also highlighted the broader role of BRICS in fostering international collaboration and communication.
"The world needs more dialogue and conversation, and the BRICS bring that as well," he added.
The UAE’s participation in BRICS aligns with its long-term strategy to diversify partnerships and attract investments.
The group is increasingly influential on the global stage, amplifying the voices of emerging economies.
Since its formation in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, BRICS has expanded.
South Africa joined in 2011, and in January 2024, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, and Ethiopia became members.
This expansion strengthens BRICS’s capacity to shape global discussions and policies.
The UAE’s involvement in the BRICS New Development Bank, which it joined in 2021, further demonstrates its commitment to international development efforts.
