Dogecoin has been found to have a vulnerability named "Dogereaper" that can affect the node structure
On December 15, Dogecoin recently suffered a vulnerability attack that severely affected its node structure. This vulnerability is known as "Dogereaper". It is reported that Sequentia developer Andreas Kohl caused 69% of Dogecoin nodes to crash using only an old laptop from El Salvador.
Although this attack seriously affected the Dogecoin nodes, the situation could have been worse: ecash developers Tobias Ruck and another developer Roqqit have already disclosed this vulnerability. Tobias Ruck stated that he first discovered this vulnerability when developing Doged (an alternative to Dogecoin Core), and found an uncorrected segmentation fault in the original code during porting code testing for their alternative software.
Tobias Ruck explained: “We will not tolerate node crashes, we have made a lot of efforts to ensure network security, this attack could be more serious, all important stakeholders such as miners and exchanges were patched before the attack occurred which shows how important it is for us to act cautiously."
