Trump settles defamation lawsuit with ABC
on the 14th local time, the American Broadcasting Company agreed to pay $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit brought by US President-elect Trump against one of the network's well-known hosts. The payment will be made to a foundation and library established by Trump in the future.
According to the settlement agreement released on the same day, the American Broadcasting Company will also issue a statement on its website expressing "regret" for host Stephanopoulos' comments on the show. In this lawsuit, Trump accused Stephanopoulos of repeatedly claiming on television that Trump had been convicted of "rape" of writer Carol. Trump believes that this has damaged his reputation.
According to a federal jury's decision on the relevant case in May 2023, Trump committed sexual assault and defamation against Carol, but did not commit rape. (Jinshi)
