21Shares hires three abrdn executives as CEO, president and COO
According to a report, Swiss crypto asset management company 21Shares has hired Russell Barlow from abrdn as its CEO and his colleague Duncan Moir as President. abrdn is one of the largest asset management companies in the UK with AUM close to $650 billion.
Barlow previously served as global head of alternative and multi-asset investments at abrdn, responsible for managing over $200 billion in assets. Moir led the asset management company's crypto and blockchain strategy.
In addition, Edel Bashir will serve as 21Shares COO, having previously served as COO of alternative and multi-asset investments at abrdn.
21.co also announced a restructuring, splitting its technology department into an independent company called 21.co Technologies, but still under the control of 21.co Holdings. 21.co founders Hany Rashwan and Ophelia Snyder will jointly serve as Chairmen of 21Shares and be responsible for the company's day-to-day operations.
21Shares also promoted Andres Valencia to Executive Vice President of Investment Management.
It is reported that since mid-year, 21Shares' asset management has grown by two-thirds and currently exceeds $10 billion.
