Semler Scientific acquires 303 Bitcoin for $30 million
Semler Scientific, a healthcare technology firm, has recently expanded its Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) holdings by acquiring 303 Bitcoin over a span of two weeks.
This purchase aligns with a trend among companies increasing their Bitcoin reserves this year.
According to a statement released on December 6, Semler acquired the Bitcoin at an average price of $96,779 between November 25 and December 4.
The company's total Bitcoin holdings now amount to 1,873 BTC, which is valued at over $189 million at current market prices.
“We are very pleased to report BTC Yield of 78.7%,” expressed Eric Semler, the company's chairman, with satisfaction.
Semler Scientific's commitment to Bitcoin is part of a broader strategy that aims to leverage the cryptocurrency's potential as a store of value.
The firm has been gradually increasing its Bitcoin treasury throughout the year, having previously purchased 215 BTC in early November.
With its current holdings, Semler ranks as the 14th largest publicly traded company in terms of Bitcoin reserves, according to data from Bitcoin Treasuries.
The company employs a performance metric known as "BTC Yield," which tracks the ratio of its Bitcoin holdings to its outstanding shares.
This strategy was initiated in May when Semler stated its belief in Bitcoin's potential for generating significant returns as it gains acceptance as a digital asset.
The growing interest in Bitcoin among corporations is reflected in similar moves by other companies, including MicroStrategy, which has made substantial acquisitions recently.
At the time of reporting, the Bitcoin price was $97,556.94.
