Through the Bitcoinimmo platform first The first real estate transaction in French history was paid for in Bitcoin. It involved the purchase of two parking spaces in the city of Gap for 0,33 Bitcoin.
The Bitcoinimmo project is the brainchild of entrepreneurs Renaud Escaut and Nicolas Fourche. The platform ensures the security of real estate transactions by acting as an intermediary in them.
According to them, the parking space seller insisted on payment in crypto assets, as she wanted to protect her savings from inflation. The final agreement on all terms of the deal took place via video conference.
The transaction took only two minutes to complete. And, as Bitcoinimmo representatives stated, this is one of the main advantages of mutual settlements in cryptocurrencies. Another is that the operation is completely transparent, since transactions are recorded in the blockchain.
As the company noted, the notarized transaction differs little from a standard agreement for the purchase of real estate, and it has full legal force, like standard transactions.
Inquisitive crypto community members asked in what form the notary fee was paid and whether the purchase was taxed. There has been no response from Bitcoinimmo yet.
