Analysts: The Fed may suspend policy adjustments and may cut interest rates three times next year
Stifel economist Lindsey Piegza stated that the Federal Reserve is about to pause policy adjustments because Chairman Powell's recent comments reflect stricter standards in this regard. Federal Reserve officials are increasingly concerned about whether economic data exceeds expectations, not just strong economic performance. If the economy continues to demonstrate significant stability next year, the Federal Reserve may face challenges related to potential interest rate cuts. I expect three more interest rate cuts next year to bring rates closer to a neutral level, lowering rates to 3.75% by the third quarter, which is a reasonable neutral level. As for this year, if December's data meets expectations, I believe the Federal Reserve will conduct a third round of interest rate cuts.
