Polymarket maintains user engagement one month post-election
Polymarket, a decentralised prediction market, has demonstrated resilience in user engagement a month after the U.S. election.
Despite initial concerns about user retention post-election, data indicates that Polymarket's open interest has rebounded from a low of $93.91 million to $115.25 million by November 30.
This growth reflects a robust base of non-election bettors, as reported by Animoca Brands, with three-quarters of users trading on topics outside the election.
Daily trading volumes, while lower than the peak of $367 million following the election, have stabilized in the mid-eight figures, indicating sustained interest.
Active wallets on the platform have remained steady, averaging around 30,000 in recent weeks, not far from pre-election levels.
Moreover, approximately 60% of all bets are under $100, suggesting a diverse user base rather than reliance on high-stakes gamblers.
In related news, former NFL player Antonio Brown issued an apology for derogatory comments made about Polymarket's founder Shayne Coplan.
Brown clarified that he shared a message from Kalshi without proper context and expressed regret for any offense caused.
Additionally, Polymarket traders were caught off guard by President Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter Biden.
Before the pardon announcement, contracts reflecting the likelihood of such an event were trading at only 28-30 cents.
Post-announcement, these contracts surged to 100%, resulting in significant payouts for those who bet on the pardon.
