Forbes reporter Eleanor Terrett: FINRA adds a new section on cryptocurrency on its website
Forbes journalist Eleanor Terrett wrote on X platform that the US Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has added a section about cryptocurrencies on its website. Although the term "cryptocurrency security" was not mentioned (except for a link to the 2023 US SEC investor alert in the "learn more" section), FINRA still points out that, in addition to cryptocurrency trading, cryptocurrencies themselves can also be considered securities.
The section provides in-depth descriptions of various types of cryptocurrencies, their buying and selling methods, and potential risks associated with them. It also links to other cryptocurrency-related resources on its own website and other regulatory agencies such as the SEC, CFTC, and FTC.
