Trump says Musk's efficiency group will release work report
US President-elect Trump said on Thursday that the government efficiency team led by Musk will release a report on streamlining the US government. Trump said in a speech at his Florida resort, "They will come back with a report, a separate report, and they will have recommendations for me and for the administration and, I think, for the country." This is the first time Trump has provided new details on the team's report since it was announced earlier this week. On Tuesday, Trump said the team will "provide recommendations and guidance outside of the government" to streamline the government, cut regulations, reduce spending, and restructure federal agencies. Both Trump and Musk have said the team will significantly cut budgets. However, the US Constitution gives Congress the power over the federal budget. Congress can accept or ignore the recommendations of external groups, such as the proposed efficiency team.
