Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Anatoly Popov at the conference "FI day. Blockchain: on the threshold of the financial era" said , that the first settlements in cryptocurrency will be carried out before the end of 2024 within the framework of foreign economic activity (FEA).

According to the top manager, various aspects of the experimental legal regime are currently being finalized, in which the Sberbank team is also taking an active part.

He noted that the bank understands perfectly well the importance of using settlements using cryptocurrencies or stablecoins for the foreign economic activities of Russian companies.

At the moment, the main details of such regulation are being worked out together with the Bank of Russia, and the first transactions in digital assets are planned to be carried out by the end of this year.

In addition, Anatoly Popov noted that there is an active discussion about the creation of a crypto exchange for trading cryptocurrency, also within the framework of the experimental legal regime (ELR).

In the summer, Sberbank already sent the Bank of Russia its wishes regarding the parameters of the experimental legal regime for exchange trading in cryptocurrency. At that time, the bank stated that it would continue to actively participate in its development.
