Former employee's hidden code turns workplace into cryptocurrency mine
a 44-year-old man named Joshua Paul Armbrust in Minnesota was indicted for a "cryptojacking" scheme, which used his former employer's computing resources to mine Ethereum (ETH), causing losses of more than $45,000. Between December 2020 and May 2021, Armbrust accessed the Amazon Web Services (AWS) account of his former employer, Digital River, without permission and used its resources for unauthorized cryptocurrency mining.
