Bitfarms CEO: Making the U.S. the No. 1 Country for Bitcoin Mining Is Definitely Possible and Desirable
On Nov. 2, Ben Gagnon, CEO of cryptocurrency mining company Bitfarms, said that making the U.S. the No. 1 country for bitcoin mining is absolutely possible and desirable, arguing that the U.S. would solidify its position as the most competitive place in the world for bitcoin mining if Trump cuts through the red tape and increases his support for and investment in energy and power infrastructure. Ben Gagnon acknowledges, however, that due to the decentralized nature of Bitcoin's infrastructure, a single country cannot mine all of the Bitcoins, and that 100% of the Bitcoins being mined in the US or some other country is impossible, and fundamentally contradicts the core principles of Bitcoin's founder, Satoshi Nakamoto.
