Ripple CTO refutes Character.AI lawsuit, saying it lacks legal basis
Ripple's Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz recently refuted the lawsuit against Character.AI on social media, stating that the lawsuit lacked legal basis and emphasized that the company's behavior is protected by the First Amendment of the United States. The lawsuit accuses Character.AI's chatbot platform of improper design, causing security risks, and describes its product as "extremely dangerous." In response, Character.AI has taken measures to update its security protocols, adding age restrictions and user monitoring functions. Schwartz believes that legal challenges to expressive content are contrary to constitutional rights and compares this case to past moral panics about new media.
