Industry insider: Some of Cosmos’ LSM modules may have been built by North Korean developers
Jacob Gadikian, a developer in the Cosmos ecosystem, shared the investigation results in an X post on October 16, stating that part of Cosmos' Liquid Staking module (LSM) may have been built by North Korean developers. Ethan Buchman, co-founder of Cosmos, stated in an X post on October 18 that Cosmos was not previously aware of North Korea's contribution to LSM. Melody Chan, research director of the non-profit organization Redecentralise for sustainable development of DeFi, suggested that malicious North Korean actors may be the masterminds behind the Cosmos LSM code, which could bring hidden vulnerabilities, just like secret backdoors in ecosystem code.
